Trimapee – ‘Damaged Disposition’ – Melbourne Spring Fashion Week – S/S 2009/10
The show was held in Melbourne’s pop-up venue ‘The Factory’, an old foundry warehouse located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD on the 4th September, 2009 @ 8:00pm.
It’s funny that in Australia we have the same S/S collections showing three times a year, Sydney twice (RAFW, RSFF) and Melbourne once (MSFW), yet the only A/W runway event available is in Melbourne (LMFF) held in March, which is opened publicly. Runway shows are always expensive for the designers but if there was some way to incorporate a public fashion festival with an industry event, held during September/October for A/W collections, that would be somewhat good news for Australian fashion.

Many interesting details to look at, despite recycled ideas all over the place. The fabric looks CHEAP and the tailoring is not very precise nor thoughtful. It feels like I can make the same pieces from the collection with fabric from sewing shops.

Well I think it looks cool. Just need to know when we can get it in Sydney????

blaaah! why is it that all these labels start copying the big labels like rick owens, damir doma which are the kings of drapery. Very unoriginal. There is no signature style shown here

Sebastian, i completely agree, alot of these labels are obviously following trends and ‘whats hot’ in fashion overseas (ie many, many, many seasons ago!). They always tend to steer away from the aesthetic they originally started off with.
i dont understand what this is all about, i cant see anyone walking through the streets looking like this

I would also have to agree with Sebastian. I am sick of these “copy” drapery looks. Don’t get me started on Chronicles of Never. Overrated and over priced for rags.
Australian designers need to develop their own sense of style. I am also sick of grunge indie looks – every guy looks the same these days. Bring back elegance and colour to menswear.
Oh and in regards to Double U comments, i think the idea is to mix a drape piece with something more tailored. Not all together because yes it does look ridiculous.
