Hanging with Alvin Manalo from Saint Augustine Academy
– Friday 9th Jan 2009 @ 2:30pm –
What are you doing tonight?
-Bands, bands then maybe dance to Deathset at Spectrum or maybe Vegas Hotel [haha].
What is your favourite piece from your next season (CCC) ?
-The scarf neck shirt for guys and the leather jacket, but I have so many favourites. For girls, probably the ruffle cape jacket and I also really love the gold mini skirt.
When could we expect to get the first deliveries?
-First deliveries should be by start of Feb. It should be, tshirts, shirts, suits and ties. Albeit, only if everything goes to plan with customs.
FULL INTERVIEW BELOW
As suggested on TheFashionisto.com, do you agree the collection resembles ‘George Bryan Brummell’?
-I’m quite flattered with the comparison because the collection is supposed to be of that era although many references were also taken from English and Spanish royalty 1500’s-1600’s.
What are you working on for S/S 2010?
-Based on the sound from a song by the Raveonettes which has influences from 60’s girl groups like The Crystals, The Animals, The Yardbirds and The Shangrilahs, very dressed up formal and tailored. For guys its all about skinny black ties and grey suits, it will probably be the most refined collection put out to date.
What do you think of the online fashion industry?
-It’s really helping people become more educated about fashion because everyone is on the internet so much. People are better informed online than even when the go into a physical shop. The internet has huge potential and that’s what’s so great about it.
Whats with the new website www.SaintAugustineAcademy.com.au?
-We tended to change each site for each season now we’ve focused on representing the brand as a whole including progression from previous seasons, which are all shown.
