LAB | Local Art Base – RAFW Runway Video – Debut showing –

11 May 2009 | 3 Comments

LAB caught our eye one afternoon at the Bondi markets when Chris, 6months fresh out of Saint George Tafe was selling his first collection of basics sourced from Japanese cottons. Chatting at the time, Chris Cheng had a wealth of material and texture knowledge. The range of basics have certainly developed from the days at Bondi and as can be seen, a full day and night range, including suiting.

‘I wanted to bring the great cut of European suits combined with the inventiveness of the Japanese styling a little closer to home, always with nod to Art, it’s very important that you feel the clothes and fabric. Men’s fashion is very slight with changes. But great quality with fabric and construction makes all the difference. We push the boundaries slightly to suggest something familiar but unexpected in approach.’

LAB is a relative newcomer to Australian fashion and was shown as part of the New Generation group show at RAFW.

While we were unable to attend and film the show due to the Fernando Frisoni clash, we thank Black & White Media agency for this video.

More LAB Homme information to come.

We were deciding whether to use instrumental or version with lyrics as loved the original ” Come to me – by Bjork ” much & listening to it all thru making the debut range. It felt right to go the tribute instrumentals for the preview, Hope that you like.d.

    Cheers
